Kids have such an interesting way of looking at the world.
Sometimes the things that mean the most to them aren’t necessarily what we would expect.
It might be a favorite toy, a special family tradition, or something small that happened during their day.
That’s one reason I love using gratitude writing prompts with kids.
They encourage children to stop and think about what matters to them.
And Thanksgiving is the perfect time to do it!

Free Printable Thanksgiving Writing Activity
This Thanksgiving writing activity gives kids an opportunity to put their thankful thoughts into words.
It’s a great activity for elementary-aged children who are practicing writing and expressing their ideas.
You can use it during homeschool, in the classroom, or simply as a fun activity at home.
All you need is the printable and a pencil.
How to Help Kids Write About Gratitude
Some children love writing and can fill an entire page without much encouragement.
Others might stare at a blank page and tell you they have absolutely no idea what to write.
And that’s okay!
If your child needs help getting started, try talking about gratitude before handing them the worksheet.
Ask them about their favorite people, places, memories, or experiences.
You might also share something you’re thankful for.
Sometimes hearing our own examples can help children get their thoughts moving.
The goal isn’t perfect spelling or the most beautifully written answer.
It’s giving children a chance to express what’s important to them.
Make It a Thanksgiving Keepsake
After your child finishes the writing prompt, consider saving it.
You could even start a small folder of Thanksgiving activities that you keep from year to year.
It’s such a sweet way to look back and remember what mattered to your children at different ages.
And if you have several children, it’s fun to see how different their answers can be.
