Teaching our kids to be thankful is something that doesn’t just happen overnight.
And if we’re being truthful, even as adults, we sometimes need a little reminder to slow down and appreciate what we have.
Life gets busy. We become overwhelmed with everything on our to-do lists, and before we know it, we’re focusing more on what needs to be done than the wonderful little things happening around us.
That’s one reason I love gratitude activities for kids.
They give us an opportunity to slow down, connect, and talk about the things we’re thankful for.
Today I’m sharing my free gratitude journal pages that you can use with your kids this Thanksgiving season or any time of the year!
Free Printable Gratitude Journal Pages
These gratitude journal sheets are a simple way to introduce thankfulness into your day.
You don’t need to plan an elaborate lesson about gratitude.
Just sit down with your children, bring out the pens, and enjoy some time together.

While your kids are coloring, you can start a conversation about the good things in their lives.
You might be surprised by their answers!
Sometimes children are thankful for the simplest things. Their favorite stuffed animal, spending time with Grandma, or getting to play outside with their friends.
And isn’t that a wonderful reminder for us, too?
Ways to Teach Gratitude With Journal Prompts
Here are a few things you can try while working on these pages:
- Ask your child to name three things they’re thankful for.
- Share something you’re thankful for as well.
- Talk about a person who has been kind to them.
- Encourage them to give their completed journal page to someone they appreciate.
- Make gratitude journaling part of your Thanksgiving traditions.
Remember, gratitude doesn’t have to be forced.
The goal isn’t to make our children feel guilty for wanting things or having difficult feelings.
It’s simply to help them notice and appreciate the good things that are already part of their lives.
