Easy Christmas Snow Globe Jar Craft for Kids

There’s something about miniature Christmas decorations that I absolutely love.

Tiny Christmas trees, little winter scenes, and all those festive decorations just make everything feel a little more magical.

If you’re looking for a fun Christmas craft to make with your kids this holiday season, this DIY Christmas snow globe jar craft is such a cute idea!

And don’t worry, you don’t need to be super crafty to make it.

This simple Christmas craft uses a clear jar, miniature Christmas trees, and a few inexpensive decorations to create an adorable little winter wonderland.

It’s also a fun way to get creative with supplies you may already have around your home.

DIY Christmas Snow Globe Jar Craft

One of my favorite things about this craft is how easy it is to personalize.

We used miniature blue Christmas trees, fluffy white cotton for snow, a green pom-pom, and some red Christmas decorations to make our little winter scene.

The finished jar looks like a tiny Christmas world!

You could use green trees instead, add miniature snowmen, or create your own little North Pole scene.

The possibilities are endless.

And unlike a traditional snow globe, this version doesn’t require water or glycerin, which makes it a simpler craft to assemble with kids.

Supplies You’ll Need

For this Christmas craft, gather:

  • Clear plastic jar or an empty, clean jar with a lid
  • Miniature bottle brush Christmas trees
  • Cotton balls or artificial snow
  • Small pom-poms
  • Red pom-pom trim
  • Red glitter bow
  • Small Christmas embellishments
  • Craft glue or hot glue (adult use only)
  • Scissors
  • Optional: Ribbon, glitter, miniature ornaments, or other decorations

You can find many of these supplies at a dollar store or craft store.

How to Make a Christmas Snow Globe Jar

Step 1: Prepare Your Jar

Start with a clean, dry jar.

Remove any labels and make sure the inside is completely dry before adding your decorations.

A clear plastic jar works well for younger children because you don’t have to worry as much about broken glass.

Step 2: Create Your Winter Scene

Add a small amount of cotton or artificial snow to the bottom of your jar.

You don’t need a lot. Just enough to make it look like a snowy winter scene.

If you’re working with little kids, this is a fun step to let them help with.

Step 3: Add Your Miniature Christmas Trees

Place your miniature Christmas trees inside the jar.

For our craft, we used a few small blue trees to give our winter scene a fun pop of color.

If you’d like them to stay in place, an adult can glue the bases to the inside of the jar lid or another suitable surface, depending on how your jar will sit.

Let the glue dry before continuing.

Step 4: Add Your Christmas Decorations

Now it’s time to make your little winter scene even more festive!

We added a green pom-pom and small decorative pieces to our jar.

You can also add miniature presents, little snowmen, or other tiny Christmas decorations.

Just make sure everything fits inside your jar.

Step 5: Decorate the Outside of Your Jar

This is where the craft really starts looking festive.

We used red pom-pom trim around the top of our jar and a sparkly red bow to finish the decoration.

You can attach your ribbon or trim using craft glue.

Have fun with this part! Your jar doesn’t have to look exactly like ours.

Step 6: Display Your Christmas Jar

Once everything is dry and your jar is securely closed, it’s time to display your creation.

Place it on a shelf, a windowsill away from direct heat, or somewhere your kids can admire their little Christmas masterpiece.

And there you have it! Your very own Christmas winter wonderland in a jar.

Fun Ways to Personalize Your Christmas Snow Globe Jar

One of the reasons I love this activity is that there are so many ways to make it your own.

Create a snowy forest: Fill your jar with several miniature Christmas trees and plenty of fluffy snow.

Make a North Pole scene: Add a tiny Santa, reindeer, or miniature presents.

Use different colors: Try pink, white, silver, or blue Christmas trees.

Give it as a gift: A homemade Christmas jar can make a sweet gift for grandparents or other family members.

Create a family craft night: Let everyone in the family make their own Christmas scene and display them together.

Tips for Making This Craft With Younger Kids

If you’re making this craft with toddlers or preschoolers, there are a few things to keep in mind.

Let younger kids help choose the decorations and arrange the larger pieces.

An adult should handle any hot glue, sharp scissors, or glass jars.

Because miniature trees, pom-poms, and other embellishments can be choking hazards, keep small parts away from children under three and supervise older children closely.

For younger kids, you can also prepare the jar ahead of time so they can focus on the fun part: decorating!

Making Christmas Memories Doesn’t Have to Be Complicated

I think sometimes, especially during the holidays, we feel like every activity needs to be Pinterest-perfect.

But here’s the thing.

Our kids aren’t going to remember whether their Christmas jar looked exactly like the one in the picture.

They’re going to remember sitting at the table, picking out their decorations, and creating something together.

That’s what makes these little Christmas crafts so special.

So grab a few supplies, put on your favorite Christmas music, and enjoy a little creative time together.

I hope you and your kids have so much fun making this easy Christmas snow globe jar craft!
