One of the things I love most about Thanksgiving is that it gives us an opportunity to slow down and think about what we’re grateful for.
And as moms, I think it’s important to encourage our children to do the same.
But here’s the thing.
Teaching gratitude doesn’t mean our kids have to be happy about everything all the time.
They can have a hard day and still be thankful.
They can feel disappointed and still appreciate the good things in their lives.
And honestly, I think that’s an important lesson for all of us.
Today I’m sharing a free I Am Grateful For printable that you can use with your kids this Thanksgiving season.
Free I Am Grateful For Worksheet
This simple printable gives children an opportunity to think about the people, experiences, and little everyday things they’re thankful for.

You can complete the activity together or let older children work independently.
For younger kids who aren’t writing yet, you can ask them to share their answers out loud and write them down.
There’s no need to make this complicated.
Just let them share what comes to mind.
Questions to Help Kids Think About Gratitude
If your child has trouble coming up with ideas, try asking a few simple questions.
- Who is someone who makes you smile?
- What’s your favorite thing to do with your family?
- What’s something that made you happy this week?
- Who helped you recently?
- What’s something you love about your home?
- What’s one thing you enjoy doing with your friends?
Sometimes children need a little encouragement to recognize the wonderful things in their everyday lives.
And their answers can be pretty sweet!
Start a Thanksgiving Gratitude Tradition
One fun idea is to have your kids complete an I Am Grateful For printable every Thanksgiving.
Write the year on the back and save their answers.
Imagine looking back several years later and seeing how the things they’re thankful for have changed.
I think those little keepsakes can become some of our favorite memories.
