Do you love paper plate crafts? They are so easy, and kids absolutely love them! All you truly need is a paper plate, some paint, and your imagination. When my kids were preschoolers, we would spend so much time making cute paper plate crafts, they still remember those crafts today.
Of course, these paper plate crafts can still be done when kids are older as well. My kids never turn down an opportunity to get the paint out.
While the picture is pretty self-explanatory, I am going to tell you step-by-step directions on how to make this cute paper plate rainbow. But don’t go far! Under the directions I will give you some more resources to go right along with your craft. You can make this into a whole lesson about rainbows!
Items You Need
In order to create this paper plate rainbow, you only need a few of items. They are:
- Paper plate cut in half
- Paint in every color of the rainbow
- Cotton balls
- Glue
- Paper towel
- Paint brush
- Cup of water
How to Put the Pape Plate Rainbow Together
Now comes the fun part! The first thing you are going to want to do is cut the paper plate in half. You of course can use either side, but we choose to use the inside of the plate.
Next you will paint each color of the rainbow. I drew a line where each color ended to make it easier on my youngesters.
Let your rainbow dry.
Once it is dry take a few pieces of cotton balls and tear them apart. Then use glue to glue on the edge of the rainbow.
There you go! You are all done with this fun rainbow craft!
To Go Along with Your Rainbow Paper Plate Craft
We have made variations of this rainbow craft throughout the years. Here is a different spin on it, we made this one right around St. Patrick’s Day.
As you can see, we added the cotton balls to one end. Then we made our own gold coins out of paint and paper. The black pot we found in a pack at the Dollar Tree. We assembled the craft and that was it!
Another fun activity we did along with this craft was create a rainbow sensory bin. This bin was simple to make. All you have to do is dye rice in various colors. I did red, yellow, blue, and green. That was all I had, plus it looks pretty much like a rainbow for a baby. Then I used items I found at the Dollar Tree, such as plastic eggs, wooden bunnies, and carrots. This activity is great for a toddler or preschooler.
